For buyers

How buying works

Mobility1 is a market for inspected used vehicles in the Netherlands, from cars and vans to motorbikes and trailers. Its vehicles come from registered Dutch dealers, and the dealer is the seller. Accounts are for registered businesses, dealers included.

Reserving opens once payments are live. You can open your account now, so your business is checked by then.

1. Open a business account

Give your company's name, KvK number and VAT ID, and a contact person. Then you send one cent from your company's business account, with your own code, and we compare the account's name with the KvK register: no documents to upload. You can look at every vehicle without an account.

2. Every vehicle is inspected first

A Mobility1 inspector visits the vehicle at the dealer's yard. For a car, van or camper the inspector checks:

  • The documents. The dealer holds the registration card and its code, no lender or lease company is left, the APK is valid, the chassis number on the vehicle matches the papers, and the NAP check finds the mileage logical.
  • The bodywork. All 13 panels, each marked clean, scratch, dent or repainted.
  • The tyres. The tread of each tyre, flagged below 3.5 mm.
  • The mechanics. Nine checks, from a cold start to the warning lights, and two more of the battery and charging on an electric or plug-in car.
  • A test drive of at least 10 km, with the inspector's notes.

Motorbikes and scooters have their own list: their papers, bodywork and mechanics, and a ride of at least 5 km. A trailer's list has its coupling, lights, brakes and axles, and no drive.

The mileage on the site is the inspector's own reading of the odometer. Each vehicle gets a grade out of 5 and photos of the whole vehicle, the dashboard, the odometer, the seats and the engine, with close-ups of the damage our inspector finds. A failed document keeps the vehicle off the site, and a vehicle goes online only with a passed inspection from the last 30 days. The report describes the vehicle on the inspection date. It is Mobility1's own inspection, not an APK or RDW inspection, and it is not a warranty.

3. One asking price, shown to every buyer

Each vehicle has one asking price, and every buyer sees it. It never moves because of an offer: the dealer cannot change it while an offer is open, and Mobility1 checks every new price before buyers see it. For now, the vehicles on the site were first registered in 2016 or later.

4. Reserve at the asking price

To reserve a vehicle, pay the buyer service fee of €250, including VAT, to Mobility1 itself, as your payment page shows: by iDEAL or card through Stripe, our payment provider, or by bank transfer to Mobility1's own account. The fee comes on top of the vehicle's price.

  • The vehicle stays available to others until your payment arrives. The first payment to arrive reserves it. If someone else's arrives first, we refund yours in full.
  • Once reserved, the vehicle is locked for you for 72 hours, and My desk shows the full chassis number, the yard and the dealer's contact.
  • The fee comes back in full if the seller does not go ahead. If you withdraw after reserving, we keep €62.50 for the checks done for you and refund the rest, to the account or card it came from.

5. Or make a private offer, where offers are open

Where private offers are open, you can offer less than the asking price: one open offer per vehicle at a time.

  • Mobility1 answers for the seller within 24 hours: yes, no, or one counter-offer to you alone. A counter-offer stays open for 24 hours.
  • Offers are answered one at a time, in the order they arrive. Nobody else sees your offer.
  • An accepted offer holds the vehicle for you for 24 hours. Pay the buyer service fee in that time to reserve it.
  • Until you reserve, you can withdraw your offer. Nothing binds anyone until the offer is accepted and you and the dealer sign the sale agreement.
  • If another buyer reserves the vehicle at its asking price first, your offer closes.

6. Pay the dealer the whole price

The dealer is the seller. You pay the whole price straight into the dealer's business account that My desk shows, marked “checked by Mobility1”, from your own money or through your lender: never to Mobility1, and never to a person.

  • Within the 72 hours of your reservation, best as an instant transfer: it arrives within seconds. Your bank checks the account's name before the money goes; if it says the name differs, do not pay, and write to info@mobility1-europe.com first.
  • The dealer confirms the money is in. Then the vehicle stays reserved for you until the sale is done, and the dealer transfers it to your company at the RDW.

Mobility1's commission is the dealer's cost: the dealer pays it to Mobility1 after the sale, on our invoice. You pay the price and the reservation fee, nothing more.

If the dealer has not confirmed your payment by the end of the working day after the 72 hours, the reservation ends as if you had withdrawn. If the sale does not go ahead, the dealer refunds what you paid it.

7. Collect the vehicle

When the dealer has confirmed your payment, it hands over the vehicle and transfers it to your company at the RDW, in its own RDW system or at a post office. You collect the vehicle at the dealer's yard. The sale is done when the dealer has the price and the vehicle is transferred.

Never pay a person

Mobility1 never asks you to pay a person, or to pay into an account given by phone, SMS or WhatsApp. You pay only Mobility1's own accounts, in the name of Abitech Worldwide Management Holding B.V., as your payment page shows (iDEAL or card on the page of Stripe, our payment provider, or Mobility1's bank account), and the dealer's business account that My desk shows.

Asked to pay anyone else? Do not pay, and tell us at once: info@mobility1-europe.com.
